Before day one
- Floors along the path from the door to the work area, with existing scratches marked.
- Door frames, stairs, railings and walls along the path.
- The rooms next to the work: walls, ceilings, floors and fixtures.
- Existing cracks in drywall, tile and grout, marked.
- Furniture and fixtures you will move or work around.
- The driveway where the dumpster or trailer will sit.
- Appliances, plumbing fixtures and anything that will be disconnected.
- The work area itself as you found it.
Walk it with the homeowner
The homeowner reviews the photos and signs on your phone before work starts. For change orders, the app records a separate signed change, tied to its own photos.
At the end of the job
Shoot the path, the next-door rooms and the driveway again before the final walkthrough. In After mode the app shows each before photo as a ghost, so the angles match.
If they say you did it
- Ask what was damaged, and when they noticed.
- Find it in your before photos. If it is marked there, it was already there.
- Send the record. The independent timestamp shows it existed no later than the stamped time.
- Anyone can check the evidence package at getclaritycam.com/verify.
What the record can't show
A record shows the home before and after your work. It cannot show who caused a new mark during a long job, or what is hidden inside walls and floors.
Questions
How often should I shoot on a long remodel?
Before day one and at the end, plus any time a new area opens up or something gets moved.
Can it record change orders?
Yes. A change order is its own sealed record with the homeowner's signature.
What about damage I find behind walls?
Shoot it as you find it and mark it, so the homeowner sees it before you close up.
Can it prove workmanship?
No. It records condition and signatures, not the quality of the work.
