ClarityCam: a shot checklist in the camera Prototype screen

Those window seals were already failing. Show it.

Siding work touches everything on the outside of a house, and some things on the inside. Shoot the windows, trim and beds before the old siding comes off.

"Those windows were fine before you started."

Before the old siding comes off

  1. Every window: glass, frames, seals and any fogging between panes.
  2. Trim, soffit, fascia and corner boards.
  3. Gutters and downspouts.
  4. Landscaping, flower beds and shrubs along every wall.
  5. AC units, meters, hose bibs, lights and anything mounted on the wall.
  6. Decks, patios and walkways under the work area.
  7. Inside: walls behind the work where nails could show, and any existing cracks.
  8. The old siding itself: rot, holes and damage you will find on tear-off.

Walk it with the homeowner

The homeowner reviews the photos and signs on your phone before work starts. Their signature is tied to the exact photos they reviewed.

After the job

Shoot the same windows, beds and walls again. In After mode the app shows each before photo as a ghost, so each after shot lines up.

If they say you did it

  1. Ask which window, wall or bed, and when they noticed.
  2. Find it in your before photos. Fogged glass or cracked trim marked there was already there.
  3. Send the record. The independent timestamp shows it existed no later than the stamped time.
  4. Anyone can check the evidence package at getclaritycam.com/verify.

What the record can't show

A record shows the house before and after your work. It cannot show the inside of a wall, or what caused a change.

What a record proves, and what it can't

Questions

Why photograph inside the house?

Nailing can show on the other side of a wall. Existing cracks inside are worth recording before you start.

Should I shoot rot I find during tear-off?

Yes. Shoot it as you find it and mark it, so the homeowner sees what was behind the old siding.

Can it prove a window leak isn't my fault?

No. It shows the window before and after, not the cause of a leak.

Does the homeowner need the app?

No. They sign on your phone and get a copy.
